I became interested in computers while in charge of the Idaho Falls Police
training section in the '80s. To make a reasonably long story short, I eventually set up and maintained the department's
Novell network, computerized records system and their individual computers. Soon after a promotion to Lieutenant, it
became evident that there wasn't enough time to maintain their computer system and accomplish the other tasks expected of me.
Rather than go back to full time cop-shop duties, my wife and I formed JC3.COM,Ltd. Co. (derived from my name: James W. Codding
III) and I retired as soon as eligible in September of 1996.
Although my wife was still the Idaho Falls Police Records supervisor and maintained their records system, JC3.COM did almost
anything to do with computers through contracted labor: maintained a number of small networks, built computers, diagnosed and
repaired hardware and software problems, Webpage designs and some specific computer programming.
Things went well until April 11, 2007, when my beloved wife passed away. I realized that life is not a sure thing forever
so I now travel as much as possible and don't do much with computers. |
